back at it.

My first week back at work after being off for 2 weeks was hard.  I’d like to get used to being a woman of leisure.  I came home this week and told J to start playing the lottery.  The conversation went something like this:

Me: Working stinks, we should win the lotto. Start playing.

J: Working does stink. You play.

We’re kind of risk averse in this household.  Maybe money will start growing from a tree outside my window. That actually wouldn’t be that great because my neighbors would likely steal it. Maybe it’ll come from our faucets instead.

A girl can dream…

I have been doing a lot of this lately…

I am not good at sewing yet. I dream that I can be good, but I’m not yet.  Though my lines are getting straighter.  I can’t imagine sewing anything other than straight lines.  I know that’s silly, but seriously, I have a hard enough time without have to round a pattern or something.  If you have any advice, I’ll gladly take it.

I picked up a pattern the other day, I even cut the shapes… I didn’t understand a word of it.  I bought a sewing magazine for beginner’s – maybe that’s a start.

I’m a big fan of making baby blankets.

(Aren’t those monkeys cute?!)

First of all, babies don’t know if lines are straight. Second of all, I remember my baby blanket and I didn’t let that thing go until…. maybe I won’t tell you how old I was.  I still have it though (not in my bed or anything, it’s in a box, far away – I’m not that girl).

Anyway, so I’m enjoying sewing and trying a new craft – I just am not that good at it.

Oh, another question – when you have a large piece of fabric, how do you ensure your cut is straight? Even a small piece – like quilt squares… Advise please.

I am going to NYC tomorrow for work.  I’m going early to meet up with a couple of friends for lunch / dinner.  I love NY.  Being there makes me feel like part of something bigger… but then I really like coming home.  So here’s to being in NYC for enough time to fall in love with the city again and catch up with friends…

It will be my first time on a plane for work in 2 months. Unreal.  LOVE.

Happy weekend

(p.s. I wrote this post to delay going to the gym.  Then J said he’d play tennis with me.  So now I’m just going to go get a manicure and then play tennis.  Win!! Procrastination has its advantages.)
