back to school / fall fashion.

I love this time of year. I live in Chicago, so the weather is starting to get a bit crisper, the leaves are about ready to change colors and all of the stores have their fall and winter gear in the windows.

Back to school shopping was always my absolute favorite because it meant a fresh start, new shoes, new pens / notebooks, and new clothes.

Every year I act like I am going back to school even though those days are far behind me. I always do some back to school shopping – it just has a bit of a different spin than it used to.

I’m pretty excited that 90’s fashions are back in for women. At first I wasn’t sure, but then I remembered how much I love a good jean shirt and how awesome flannels and plaid are. I love that the style is back but with less frump than 20 years ago. At least it feels less frumpy than it did 20 years ago, but what do I know? 🙂

I’ve compiled a few things that I have either purchased, am lusting after, or have in virtual shopping carts, ready for my new “school” year to start. Back to work after maternity leave and back to school… same, same, right?

That “casual friday” outfit below is basically my uniform – minus the Burberry coat and $400 jean shirt (what?), unfortunately.

Also, check out the kids clothes… Simon probably doesn’t need a cardigan to go to the nanny, but it’s darn cute…and while I’m window shopping, I thought that I might as well dress my husband too.

What fall fashions are you lusting after? Are you planning to rock the plaid, flannel, short sweatshirt, overalls, jean jacket or jean shirt?

  1. I seriously love all of these outfits!! I LOVED back-to-school shopping and started it circa June every year. I want that J. Crew necklace and Burberry trench SO BADLY.

  2. I like the way you put that the 90s “style is back but with less frump.” So true. Jean shirts and flannels are definitely cuter when tailored. In the 90s, I looked like I was just raiding my dad’s closet (not that he was actually cool enough to own a jean shirt or flannel, but you get the idea).
