do you ebates?

I was a skeptic of ebates until my friend Melanie talked about it on her blog. I thought that if Melanie liked it then I might too… she’s normal, I’m normal, ebates must work! I know that Melanie has earned a lot of cash back (I think she said around $700) and with the amount of online shopping that I do (my UPS guy thinks I shop too much) I thought that I’d give it a try.

In the last week alone I’ve earned $8.55 cash back from online shopping and some other cash back hasn’t hit yet because some sites are slower to bill than others. I know that’s not a lot of money, but if you’re going to the site anyway, shopping anyway, why not go through ebates to get the cash back? It’s one extra step to remember, but it works, I promise.

This week I got cash back from JCrew, GAP and Nordstrom. They were gifts, I swear :). I know that Melanie uses Target online quite a bit and gets cash back. Amazon (but only specific stores) gives cash back too. Basically any store that I’ve shopped at and searched for on ebates except Zappos has had an ebates deal between 1.5% cash back and 10% cash back. Free money, people.

Here’s how it works.

  • Visit ebates.
  • Sign-up for an account.

  • Use the search bar in the top right to search for the store that you’re intending to do some damage at.

  • Select the deal that makes the most sense based on what you’re shopping for.

Image

  • I selected the first one – JCrew 6% cash back and ebates directs me to the site.

  • Wah La! The JCrew website appears, looks just like it would if I just went directly there and I shop just the way I would, but earning cash back while I do it.

See? Totally simple. Adds an extra 60 seconds to your online shopping experience, but with 6% cash back, it’s like you’re already getting your goods on sale :). I should really be a marketing manager.

Let me know if you try it.

Like I said, I was totally skeptical, but when someone that I know said that it works well, I gave it a try and apparently I’m also earning cash back. And yes, I know they’re tracking my shopping and gathering market data, but I don’t care. They could do that anyway and at least I am getting something from it.

The links above are referral links and I get a bonus for referring new people to the site. Honesty is my policy :), however I truly think that it’s worth it.

I’ve changed my approach to doing what I do anyway and I think I’m hooked. So if you online shop, go, go now. Click here to get started.
