A few weeks ago, I took engagement pictures for one of my best friends who is getting married at the end of next month.
I am so excited for her – she is happy and they are oh so very good for each other.
We went to a park and just started snapping. I am not a professional and I don’t do very well providing directions, which I should definitely work on if I plan to do more frequent non-baby shoots.
I am a big fan of “be yourself”.
I am also a big fan of taking tons of pictures until I find the least staged, most natural ones that speak to me. I, of course, took a few posed shots, but mainly it was just a “be yourself and ignore this big camera” kind of shoot.
What we ended up with was pretty good, I think.
It was a REALLY bright day (aka, not “magic hour”) and J has sensitive eyes, so I was pretty much shooting into direct sunlight for the whole session. I got some cool catch lights / sun flare, but otherwise I had a lot of over-exposed images to play with.
In hindsight, the red jacket overpowers the rest of the photo a bit, but what can you do? It was WAY too cold to be without a coat for long, unfortunately.Thank you M & J for being willing subjects in my quest to become a better photographer. Much love. xx.
