I can’t stop thinking about the fact that I will be in New York City in 7 days.
Forget the fact that the trip signals the end of traveling to my current project – that deserves its own post.
I am seeing Anna Banana and we’re spending some time in her new Park Slope neighborhood.
I’m meeting her boyfriend for the first time. <— That’s a REAL big deal. REAL big.
J is meeting me there the next day.
We have tickets to Once and the US Open. We have plans to see a comedy show, visit the Highline, walk the Brooklyn Bridge, run in Central Park, act touristy with a visit to the top of the Empire State Building and eat tons of good food (diet be damned).
Friends, touristy things, food carts (for J – I could do without) and my weight in Mister Softee with sprinkles? It’s a dream, for real.
When we planned this trip it felt really far away. Our yearly trip to NYC is one of my favorites and it’s so close. We spend our days walking until our feet hurt, eating until our bellies ache (thank goodness for all of the walking) and exploring new nooks and crannies of the city we love until we begrudgingly head back to the hotel for a little rest before we do it all again the next day.
Our NYC trip is our last summer “hurrah”, the sign that Fall is fast approaching. Pretty soon it’s coats and sweaters and chili for dinner. But for now, for now I will look forward to NYC, friendship and being a tourist.
Here’s to hoping that we get to see Serena at the Open :).
