o canada…

Our home and native land!…

I had to be in Calgary for work this week.  I haven’t spent much time in Canada and never in Calgary, so it was a nice change of scenery.

I saw very little, only the office, hotel and a few restaurants because we were pulling pretty long days.  Everything was close to downtown, but we did go to a few different areas for dinner.  On Wednesday night, after we had finished the bulk of our work for the week (it was a lot and my team knocked it out), I took them to a nice dinner at Alloy.  It was deeeeeeeelicious.  My mouth is watering just thinking about it.  The bruschetta was amazing.  And the polenta that they made like mashed potatoes…. yum. Also, I ate succotash, which was surprisingly good.  I’ve made fun of the word before, but I had never actually seen or eaten it. Succotash… funny word.

I have to give a bunch of interviews over the next few weeks.  I don’t know why I volunteer for this (well, I do, it’s part of my job-ish) because I find them to be absolutely exhausting.

And p.s. after I started writing this I did an interview…and it was bad. And maybe I am too tough on people, but if I wouldn’t work with you, I’m not passing you through, end of story.

J and I got our tickets to the US Open last night.  I LOVE New York and it’s such an amazing excuse to spend a good, long weekend there.

Hopefully we’ll be able to catch up with some friends and catch a show while we’re there – in addition to the pizza we’ll eat, the comedy shows we want to see, etc etc etc. I REALLY want to see The Book of Mormon, but I can only get American Express preferred seating for $350+/ticket.  Unfortunately, I think I’ll wait until it’s in Chicago.  What other shows do you recommend?

It is gorgeous outside right now – supposed to be all weekend.  I need to get my butt in gear, but I think that today I am going to do that on my bike.  I never just ride, I always ride with a destination, mainly because it makes it seem less strenuous when there’s ice cream at the end of a 8-10 mile ride (and then you have to get home, so it makes the ice cream totally ok, right?!).  However… as much as I love ice cream, I’ve got to be honest with myself… my 33 year old self needs to eat less sugar.  I’ve just got to.  And so…a long ride for the pleasure of the long ride will be my destination today – I hope to ride for at least an hour and hopefully along the lake path.

That’s all. Long-winded and nothing to say, per usual 🙂

Happy weekend.
