truly brave for pediatric cancer.

This ‘Truly Brave‘ video aired on the Today Show yesterday morning and caught my attention because I love these songs by Sara Bareilles and Cyndi Lauper. Their collaboration is beautiful. Watch this, but pull out the tissues first.

Seeing this video immediately took me back almost 4 months when Simon had to spend his first 7 days of life in the NICU. His experience, our family’s experience, was nothing close to what these children and families must be going through, but it hit close enough to home that I want to do something to make a small difference. I know what it feels like to sit in a hospital and watch the monitors as your helpless child lay with cords taped to their body. 7 days was terrifying. I can’t imagine what it’s like to watch, uncertain, for months and sometimes years.

In an effort to give back to pediatric cancer research, I will donate $1 for every new Facebook Page “like” and $1 for every new blog follower up to $150 USD total. My facebook page followers are currently at 22 and my blog follower count starts at 99.

I am planning to donate directly to St. Baldrick’s.

I will keep this going through next Thursday, October 2, at 11:59PM CST and will provide an update and screenshot of my donation on Friday, October 3.

If you feel like it you can make your own donation here.

Happy Friday – thanks for helping me make a small difference.

UPDATE: I just received an email that another donor will match any donation I make up to $150, so basically that’s $2 per facebook page like / blog follow!!

  1. Oh my gosh… I shouldn’t have watched that without tissues. Duly warned. I love your donation method! I wish I could unfollow and refollow on both, but instead will donate myself! xo
